The lack of a SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tool both fast and reliable.

To design and to build a portable, fast, and low-cost device toachieve reliable diagnosis.

Out of the lab diagnosis for efficient crowd screening, also in low-resource settings.
Saliva is a promising candidate for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics, its collection is minimally invasive, and has shown comparable sensitivity to nasopharyngeal swabs. Our Viruscope contains a self-administrated saliva collection tool, a rapid, automatic and high sensitive fluorescent labelling procedure for the virus, and an innovative optical detection system. All integrated in a portable and user-friendly device.

We decided to participate to the EuVsVirus Hackaton in order to try and build a portable viruscope for detecting viruses. We started from scratch, 10 researchers, 48 hours, and 1 instrument to be developed. It's been a lot of fun!!

We hope to see you soon!
